Andersonville is one of Chicago’s premier destination for shopping local and supporting locally owned and operated small businesses. There are plenty of great restaurants and coffee shops, thrift stores and gift stores to check out and make a day of it!
One of my favorite things about Andersonville is the incredible sense of community. It’s the kind of neighborhood where people make an effort to support local businesses, stop to chat with their neighbors, and show up for community events. I always encourage people to spend a day wandering Clark Street, popping into the locally owned shops and restaurants, grabbing a coffee, and taking a walk through Winnemac Park. Every visit reminds you why so many people fall in love with this neighborhood, it’s welcoming, inclusive, and truly feels like home.
Andersonville is a coffee lover’s paradise with a shop (or two!) on nearly every block of Clark St. There are also numerous retail boutiques offering unique goods, apparel, and home decor that can’t be found anywhere else in the city. Whether you’re a local or just visiting for the day, it’s quite the enjoyable neighborhood to stroll around while sipping coffee and shopping.
Andersonville includes the historic Lakewood Balmoral District, featuring historic homes developed in the 1890s with a suburban feel and a blend of Victorian and Queen Anne styles, and the lively Clark Street corridor, filled with local boutiques, vintage shops, and cafés.
Best neighborhood for locally owned and FOOD!!!! You’d be hard pressed to find a spot in Andersonville that wasn’t delicious. Tons of Mom & Pop shops. A person could spend the whole day here and still not see it all!
Andersonville is known to be the martini capital of the city! Almost anywhere you drop in you can grab a fantastic martini. At Minyoli, we extend the traditional Taiwanese flavors from our food into our bar program, including our take on classic martinis.
