The Most Expensive Washington, D.C. Home Sales of 2025 – So Far

Washington, D.C. has long been home to influential politicians, business leaders, and wealthy individuals – and this year is no different. 

A host of officials and others close to the Trump Administration have already purchased top-tier homes in D.C., fueling a so-called “Trump Bump” in the luxury market. And they’re well-equipped to do so: Trump’s cabinet alone had a combined net worth exceeding $14 billion as of 2024.

That wealth has translated into a slew of high-end deals. In December 2024, Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick set a new benchmark with his $25 million purchase of a Foxhall estate – the most expensive home sale in D.C. history. 2025 has only continued the trend with numerous $10 million homes already changing hands.

While these prices are remarkable, it’s not uncommon for luxury homes in D.C. to sell at the beginning of a new administration. Lobbyists, officials, and executives spend a lot of money for proximity to the Capitol. Nationwide, though, Florida and California are still home to the lion’s share of ultra-luxury sales.

Here are the most expensive home sales in the Washington, D.C. metro area in 2025 so far, according to data from Redfin.

1. 2601 30th St NW, Washington, D.C. 20008

  • Sale price: $23,000,000
  • List price: $23,000,000

Purchased in March for $23 million by Mark Zuckerberg, this 16,200 square-foot house is the third-most expensive home sale in Washington, D.C. history. The property contains three modern-contemporary structures connected by glass walkways and is surrounded by a 12-foot-tall iron fence. 

2. 3030 Chain Bridge Rd NW, Washington, D.C. 20016

  • Sale price: $20,000,000
  • List price: $19,995,000

Selling for $20 million in July, this 8,672 sq ft estate offers 8 beds, 11.5 baths, and nearly an acre of grounds. Grand interiors and manicured gardens make it one of D.C.’s most prestigious properties. The home was on the market for 18 months and occupies the space of the former Cafritz Mansion, which was destroyed in a fire in 2009. 

3. 7500 Ironwood Ln, Warrenton, VA 20186

  • Sale price: $20,000,000
  • List price: $23,000,000

Purchased in January after eight years on the market, the 18th-century North Wales Estate contains 22 bedrooms, 14.5 bathrooms, eight additional dwellings, and 1,500 acres of land full of rolling fields, forests, gardens, and equestrian facilities. The home was originally listed in 2017 for $33 million before seeing numerous price cuts and selling for $3 million under the final asking price.

4. 1150 Chain Bridge Rd, McLean, VA 22101

  • Sale price: $17,500,000
  • List price: $22,250,000

Set in the prestigious Langley Farms neighborhood, this gated, 14,400 square-foot estate sits on two acres and features an ivy-clad stone wall framing lush grounds and curated gardens. The New England-style house contains 6 beds and 8.5 baths. It was previously purchased in 2000 and has undergone numerous renovations since. 

5. 1260 Crest Ln, Mclean, VA 22101

  • Sale price: $14,050,000
  • List price: $15,500,000

This prestigious French provincial estate on McLean’s “Gold Coast” is situated on 4 acres, with 9,100 square feet of living space. Known as the Stratford House, the property was built in 1973 and features 8 beds and 6 baths. 

6. 3210 R St NW, Washington, D.C. 20007

  • Sale price: $12,500,000
  • List price: $13,500,000

Sold in February after five years on the market, this famous property features 8,050 square feet of living space, with 5 beds and 6.5 baths. Notable past owners include a U.S. Supreme Court justice and a member of the Croquet Hall of Fame. It last changed hands in 2010.

7. 1113 Langley Ln, McLean, VA 22101

  • Sale price: $11,200,000
  • List price: $11,200,000

Set on nearly 1.3 acres in the Langley neighborhood, this English- and French-style estate spans 16,000 square feet with 7 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, and two separate garages. The home was torn down in 2005 by a previous owner and completely rebuilt over the next five years.

8. 2227 Penny Ln, The Plains, VA 20198

  • Sale price: $10,750,000
  • List price: $19,600,000

This 1930s Colonial Revival home contains 6 beds and 6 baths across 8,000 square feet. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The home sits on 435 acres of rolling hills and features a manor house, gardens, barns, a cabin, and everything in between. It was originally listed for $19.6 million in late 2023, but ended up being auctioned off for just under $11 million.

  • Sale price: $9,995,000
  • List price: $9,995,000

Located just off of the famed, tree-lined Chain Bridge Road, this brand new estate spans 10,300 square feet with 7 beds, 8.5 baths, elevators, and a 3-car garage. It’s part of a private and luxurious 13-home subdivision. It sold in April for just under $10 million.
